Activity (1)

Guided Visit to Lui Seng Chun

Lui Seng Chun, a Chinese tenement located between Lai Chi Kok Road and Tong Mi Road, was built in 1931. It was originally owned by Mr. Lui Leung who is one of the founders of the Kowloon Motor Bus Company (1933) Ltd. The ground floor of the building was occupied by a Chinese bone-setting medicine shop named "Lui Seng Chun" while the upper floors became the residence for the members of the family. In order to introduce this Tong Lou to the FOH, we are going to organize two guided tours in late July, details are as follows:

Date : 29 July 2006 (Saturday)
Time : (Group A) 11:15am to 12:15pm
(Group B) 12:15pm to 1:15pm
Assemble Time & Place : (Group A) 11:00am
Exit B at Prince Edward MTR Station

(Group B) 12:00noon
Main Entrance of Lui Seng Chun,
119 Lai Chi Kok Road, Kowloon
Docent : Miss Alice Tang
Quota : 60 persons (30 persons per tour, each person can only join either one of the groups)
Application : Mr. Fan (Tel:2208 4407).
Successful applicants will be chosen by a ballot and notified individually.
Remarks : The tours will be conducted in Cantonese.

Activity (2)

Recruitment of Volunteers for Website Team

Our Office is now recruiting volunteers for the Website Team. Friends who fulfill the following requirements are cordially invited to join us:

Requirements:
- Knowledge in computer science, graphic design or other related disciplines
- Good at Flash, Photoshop, Illustrator, Freehand, Dreamweaver, HTML or other software applications
- Interested in proof reading

Duties:
- Assist in maintaining AMO's website by checking and monitoring the webpages
- Assist in creating new pages and developing interactive games for AMO's website
- Provide creative ideas and technical support for the framework of AMO's website

Recruitment of Volunteers for Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery cum Heritage Trail Visitors Centre Exhibition

The Ping Shan Tang Clan Gallery cum Heritage Trail Visitors Centre is scheduled to be open in late 2006. Our Office is preparing the exhibition at the moment, and would like to invite Friends of Heritage to assist in planning part of the exhibition which is related to Chinese traditional festivals in Yuen Long. We are now recruiting volunteers for the Centre's Exhibition. Friends who fulfill the following requirements are cordially invited to join us:

Requirements:
- Possess photographs on traditional Chinese festivals in Yuen Long
- Good knowledge in photography
- Good standard of Chinese and English
- Interested in photography, writing texts and proof reading
- Highly devoted and responsible

Duties:
- Assist in photo-shooting and sorting photographs on traditional Chinese festivals
- Assist in writing texts and proof-reading

Schedule:
July - August 2006 Come up with a theme; gathering exhibits; writing texts
September 2006 Complete the tasks of gathering exhibits and writing texts

Recruitment of Volunteers for Transcription

We are now recruiting volunteers to record and transcribe the contents of lectures. Friends who fulfill the following requirements are cordially invited to join us:

Requirements:
- Good standard of Chinese and English
- Must be able to attend the weekend lectures held in afternoon

Duties:
- Record and transcribe contents of the lectures (MD discs will be provided to the volunteers if necessary)
- AMO will arrange schedule of work to individual FOH
