International Conference: Chinese Export Ceramics and Maritime Trade, 12th - 15th Centuries

Jointly organized by the Antiquities and Monuments Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and the Chinese Civilisation Centre, City University of Hong Kong, the International Conference: Chinese Export Ceramics and Maritime Trade, 12th - 15th Centuries were held on 24 - 25 June 2004.

The Conference was divided into three sections. The theme gives emphasis on the export of Chinese ceramics produced in Fujian region and the trading activities between Fujian region and Southeast Asia. The Conference has invited experts and scholars from Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, England, Australia and many others, to participate and share their latest academic research and experience so as to consolidate the topic in terms of comparison and integrity.

The Conference was an academic activity correlated with the "Ceramics to the West" research scheme that is jointly conducted by the Chinese Civilisation Centre and the Faculty of Physics and Materials Science of the City University of Hong Kong.
