The history of the Yuen Long Old Market can be traced back to over 300 years. It was a prosperous city in the Qing dynasty, and most of the traditional architectural characteristics are still retained among the new buildings. Here, the students try to explore the Old Market from different perspectives. They interviewed different people, from residents to scholars, in an attempt to study the Old Market more thoroughly, and to make their collective memories come alive. |

Ching Chung Koon: Its Characteristics of Architectural Structures and Implied Meanings (in Chinese only with English abstract)

Ching Chung Koon is a Taoist monastery in Tuen Mun. It was established in 1960 in a site at Kei Lun Wai of Tuen Mun. The monastery developed from the Longmen Sub-sect of Quanzhen Sect of the Taoism. This exhibition introduces the history of Ching Chung Koon and the Taoist deities to be worshipped. The characteristics of the architectural structures and implied meanings of decorations of the Chinese traditional buildings in the compound are also featured. |
