Government House
Completed in 1855, Government House had been the official residence of the Governors of Hong Kong until the end of British rule in the territory. It was originally built in the Georgian style and bore rich colonial characteristics. The building underwent major alterations during the Japanese Occupation period. It is now the residence and office for the Chief Executive.
In front of the main entrance of Government House, there is a "GOVERNORS RESIDENCE" stone erected in the small flower bed. The stone was relocated from the site of Mt. Lodge, the summer residence of former Governors of Hong Kong demolished in 1946, to the present site in 1980.
