The Chinese Young Men’s Christian Association of Hong Kong (Chinese Y.M.C.A.), established in 1901, was headed by Reverend Walter Southam of the American Association. Initially, it was only housed in a rented residential flat at Des Voeux Road Central. With the increasing number of members, a youth club was finally built at the present site in 1918.
