In 1868, the Nam Pak Hong Chamber of Commerce was founded by the merchants of Nam Pak Hong, such as Mr Fung Ping Shan. It was originally called Nam Pak Hong Union. The Nam Pak Hong Codes (1920) were observed by its members as ethics of the profession. The Chamber also played a role in maintaining law and order as well as acting as a fire station in the district. In 1953, Nam Pak Hong Union moved out, and a new building was built in 1954. Another reconstruction took place in 1997. |
