Western Market (North Block)
323 Des Voeux Road Central

The North Block, built in 1906, was an extension of the Western Market. It was the former site of the Harbour Office that had moved to a reclamation area in the Central district for a larger space to cope with its increasing workload. The old building of the Harbour Office was pulled down to build the North Block of the Western Market. The market has ceased operation since a new Sheung Wan Complex came into service in 1989. In 1990, it was declared a monument, and redeveloped by the Land Development Corporation (now the Urban Renewal Authority) in 1991.
