Furen Wenshe was founded by Yang Quyun and Xie Zuantai in 1892 with the aim to enlighten the public. It was the place where revolutionaries frequented for meetings. Some of the members of the society also joined the Xing Zhong Hui (Revive China Society) which was organized by Dr Sun Yat-sen. Now, the entrance and steps of Pak Tsz Lane, the way through which members went for meetings, are still retained. This historic site is now marked by the Dr Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail.
