Original Site of Central School
44 Gough Street

Central School was founded in 1862 to provide a modern Western education to young Chinese. Dr Sun Yat-sen enrolled in 1884, studying there before transferring to another school in 1886. The school was relocated to a new building at the junction of Aberdeen Street and Hollywood Road in 1889 and renamed Queen’s College in 1894. The original building underwent several renovations and was used by a number of different schools. This historic site is now marked by the Dr Sun Yat-sen Historical Trail. (A memorial plaque can be found on Gough Street)
