Training Period for the 7th Batch of Friends of Heritage (FOH)

Thank you for joining our orientation gathering held in mid-April in which we have introduced the background of the FOH Scheme and the activities for FOH. Upon the satisfactory completion of 10 hours of voluntary work within the period from 22 April 2006 to 31 Dec 2006, you will become a permanent member of Friend of Heritage. We will record all your activity and voluntary service working hours, and will send the record to you by post by the end of the year 2006.

Friends who have not submitted their photos, please send the photos to us by 10 May 2006 (Wednesday). Remember to mark your names at the back of the photos. Thank you for your co-operation.

Certificates for the 6th Batch of Friends of Heritage

The Certificates and Service Awards Presentation Ceremony for 6th Batch FOH was completed successfully in mid-April. For those who have not attended the event, please bring along your FOH membership cards with you and come to collect the certificates at the Information Counter of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre on or before 30 July 2006.

Opening Hours of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre:
Mondays to Saturdays (Except Thursdays): 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Sundays and Public Holidays: 10:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m.

Recruitment of Volunteers for International Museum Day 2006, Hong Kong

Date : 13 & 14 May 2006 (Saturday & Sunday)
Time : 10:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Assembly Time : 9:45 a.m./ 11:45 a.m./ 1:45 p.m./ 3:45 p.m.
Voluntary Working Sessions : a) 10:00am - 12:00noon
b) 12:00noon - 2:00pm
c) 2:00pm - 4:00pm
d) 4:00pm - 6:00pm
Venue : Game Booth of the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre at Hong Kong Cultural Centre Piazza
Contents : Provide assistance in the fun-fair and distribution of AMO pamphlets
Remarks :
  1. Volunteers have to prepare for their own lunch.
  2. Each Friend should not enroll more than one session of voluntary work.
  3. 2 hours of voluntary work will be accumulated to your activity record.

Briefing Session on Finds Processing Workshops

In order to complement with the finds processing work at our Archaeological Repository and provide a chance for FOH to participate in finds processing, we are going to recruit volunteers to join the above workshops, a briefing session will be held in late May, details are as follows:

Date : 27 May 2006 (Saturday)
Time : 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon
Venue : Hong Kong Archaeological Archives
Room 400A, 4/F., Kwun Chung Municipal Services Building, 17 Bowring Street,
Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon.
Speaker : Mr. Micheal Tang, Assistant Curator I (Archaeological Repository), AMO
Content : Introduction on the methods and procedures of finds processing
Quota : 40 persons
Remarks :
  1. A series of finds processing workshops will be arranged for FOH participating in the above briefing session, details of the workshops will be announced in the briefing session.
  2. Priority will be given to the 7th batch of FOH first.
  3. The briefing session will be conducted in Cantonese.
