Friends of Heritage

The Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) has received encouraging responses from the public since the inception of the Friends of Heritage (FOH) Scheme in 1997, and the scheme has already accumulated more than 500 members. FOH has been providing valuable assistance in heritage conservation and promotional work. AMO also arranges formal training and activities on local heritage to equip members with professional knowledge. Members were given the opportunity to attend lectures on local history and heritage, visiting local heritage sites and participating in voluntary services. In addition, some of them have become trained docents after a series of docent training programmes who help to convey the importance of heritage conservation to the public. AMO will keep a track record of the services hours of each FOH member. To complement the active FOH, AMO will present certificates and awards to the most dedicated members for every year.
