To complement the mega exhibition, The Majestic Han: A Golden Age of Vigour and Cultural Integration, the Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) of the Development Bureau has joined hands with Arts Exhibition China to launch the “The Majestic Han School Workshop: Stories of the Merchants in the Maritime Road and Treasures in Han Dynasty” for primary and secondary schools. WANG Siyi, Associate Professor of Shanghai University, and GONG Xuedan, member of the Museum of Shanghai University, will conduct 18 free workshop sessions on school premises. Please apply now!
The tutors will conduct interesting interactive activities with the students at school, using selected star exhibits from “The Majestic Han” exhibition, such as a Wuzhu bronze coin, a lacquered wooden plate with a leopard cat motif and the Chinese characters Jun Xing Shi (food for the honoured guest), an eaves end tile with the Chinese characters Han Bing Tian Xia (Han unifies the realm), a pottery house unearthed at the Lei Cheng Uk Han Tomb, and glass beads unearthed at Tung Wan Tsai, Ma Wan. The activities will include role plays, mission games and workshops on shrink plastic to deepen students’ understanding of the history, heritage, culture and external exchanges in Han dynasty, and the pluralistic nature of Chinese culture.
