Henan is an important cradle of Chinese civilisation, situated in the central region, also known as the Central Plains. Luoyang, which is situated in Henan Province, was assumed to endure responsibilities as the eastern capital attributed to its geographic centrality with accessible transport, as such it became a key stronghold from which the central government administered the Central Plains and extended its influence toward the Guandong regions. While Eastern Han established the capital at Luoyang, the political centre of the dynasty shifted to the Central Plains, and the region became the core of Han civilisation, which could be exemplified by various realms, such as agriculture, iron-smelting industry, handicrafts, business, culture and academic, etc.
Let’s follow Ms. WU Wei’s footsteps to deepen your knowledge towards the exhibits from Henan displayed at ‘The Majestic Han’ exhibition, as well as understanding how the brilliance of Han civilisation gathered, flourished and radiated outward from the Central Plains.
