Xuzhou was the homeland of Liu Bang, Emperor Gaozu of Han. Immersed in Chu culture from childhood, Liu Bang favoured Chu dances and sang Chu songs. Pottery female dancing figurine in wrapped‑collar costume, which originated from Xuzhou Museum (Xuzhou Han Dynasty Stone Art Museum), is featured at ‘The Majestic Han’ Exhibition. The long‑sleeve dance performed by this pottery dancing figurine was a typical form of popular dance in Han dynasty, influenced by Chu dances in the Warring States period. The body of this unique figurine curves into a ‘S’ shape that shifts with the dance movement, overall lines are smooth and its movement lively, vividly capturing the posture of the long‑sleeve dance.
Apart from this vivid dancing figurine, Mr. MIAO Hua, Director, Collection Management Department of the Museum, will introduce you some other precious exhibits, such as the silver seal with tortoise–shaped knob and the inscription Chu Du Wei Yin (Seal of the Commandant of Chu) , Pictorial stone with carving of kitchen scene, pottery figurine playing the se zither, to indulge in the sensational vogue and rich culture of Chu.

Rammed earth is a composition of aggregates (e.g. gravels and sands) and natural binding materials (e.g. soil and lime), thus enabling rammed earth structures to acquire various attributes for instance dehumidifying, insulating, environmental-friendly, cost effective, etc. Being one of the world's widely used traditional building techniques, old rammed earth structures are still being seen and preserved in the rural areas of Hong Kong.
The Antiquities and Monuments Office (AMO) of Development Bureau is dedicated to conserve cultural heritage of Hong Kong, as well as enhancing the public’s interest and awareness on heritage conservation.
