To complement the 29th anniversary of the return of Hong Kong to the motherland, the Antiquities and Monuments Office of the Development Bureau is delighted to present ‘7.1 Celebrating the Return to the Motherland — The Majestic Han Fun Day’ on 1 July 2026 at the Hong Kong Heritage Discovery Centre (HDC). The Fun Day offers a lineup of interesting activities and games, including pitch-pot, the Majestic Han Challenge, badge making, exhibit colouring, a star tour by curator, The Majestic Studio, dinosaur modelling clay workshops, face painting, balloon twisting, paper book workshop, rammed earth workshops, cookie workshops, and more. Complete the designated activities to collect exclusive stamps for limited-edition souvenirs! In addition to the four-colour stamp and exclusive event-day stamp, there will be concerts by the Greater Bay Area Philharmonic and a public talk by Professor Ho Puay-peng, sharing insights on the architecture of Han dynasty! Visitors to HDC who were born on 1 July may receive a vacuum flask!

Programme highlights:
1. Pitch-Pot
Experience this popular game from Han dynasty banquets. Challenge yourself to toss arrows into the pot!
2. The Majestic Han Challenge
Find the answers hidden in ‘The Majestic Han’ exhibition and other exhibitions! Explore the galleries closely to complete the challenge!
3. Dressing Up the Han Exhibits
Choose your favourite Majestic Han exhibits and colour them! Unleash your creativity to create a unique piece!
4. The Majestic Studio (You must first complete ‘The Han Gallery Mission’)
Capture memorable moments with an exclusive background and props inspired by the star exhibits. Take a snapshot and experience the mighty winds of Han!
5. Dinosaur Modelling Clay Workshops
Create a mini dinosaur with modelling clay and learn about palaeontology!

6. Public Talk
Professor Ho Puay-peng will deliver a talk on the architecture of Han dynasty, in the HDC Lecture Hall at 3 pm.
7. Concert by the Greater Bay Area Philharmonic
The Greater Bay Area Philharmonic Hong Kong Orchestra will host two concert sessions in the HDC Lecture Hall to bring you to experience cultural heritage through music.

8. 【Face Painting (You must first complete the ‘Explore Our Heritage’ Mission)
Complete the designated mission in the ‘Explore Our Heritage’ Permanent Exhibition Gallery on 1/F to enjoy this face-painting activity. It will make you look amazing!
9. Balloon Twisting (You must first complete the ‘Treasure Touch Mission’)
Cute balloons enhance the festive ambience! Complete the designated mission in the Han Gallery to receive a twisted balloon! First-come, first-served, while stocks last.
10. Majestic Han X Dinosaur Cookie Workshop (You must first complete the ‘Dinosaur Parlour’ Stamp Mission)
Use chocolate pens to draw stylish patterns on cookies under the guidance of instructors to create your own cookie. First-come, first-served, while stocks last.
11. Leopard Cat’s Zine Workshop
Create your own custom activity booklet using just one sheet of paper!
12. ‘Merchants in the Maritime Silk Road’ Workshop
WANG Siyi, Associate Professor of Shanghai University, and GONG Xuedan, member of the Museum of Shanghai University, will guide participants to understand the history, heritage, culture and external exchanges in Han dynasty, as well as the pluralistic nature of Chinese culture through making shrink plastic.
