Old Site of the Murray House

1 Garden Road

Looking south from Chater Garden, the Bank of China Tower rises impressively into view. This was originally the site of Murray House, which was built in 1846 as officers’ quarters in Murray Barracks (now Citibank Tower). Home to several different government departments at various times after World War II, Murray House was dismantled in the early 1980s and later rebuilt on the seafront promenade in Stanley.
